Microsoft Edge: Shopping

Pitch for Collab with Bing Shopping

Microsoft circa 2021

This was a collaboration with Bing Shopping where they wanted more integration points within Microsoft Edge.

Having been the original lead designer of the brower chrome, my role was to ensure that their presence aligned in harmony with the browser ecosystem and the Fluent design system.

The Pitch Deck

This exploration expanded the scope of Shopping in the browser by merging existing features——coupon codes and rebates——by looking at a potential future of creating a Shopping Assistant powered by Bing envisioned as a suite of tools for shopping research to track products, compare prices, and find deals across available retailers.

Option 1: Accordian UI

This navigation was inspired by the memo pad with the binding at the top which was meant to be a little playful. The biggest drawback to this UI is that it takes up a substantial amount of space and navigation points get lost in all the content.

Option 2: Tab UI

The segmented UI is more visible and more familiar as navigation.

Browser UI Behaviors

Additional behaviors were proposed based on how the user prefered to interact with the UI as either an easy to dismiss flyout or attached side pane.
