I had a unique opportunity to design an advertising platform based on Windows 8 which started out as a side project. The impetus for this project was to create a new revenue stream for Windows 8, primarily for our team which mostly owned content experiences.
Working with our CVP and bizdev, we managed to pull together a roadshow presentation that was taken to the top ad agencies. Feedback was so positive, a new team was spun off to further pitch and sell these advertorial spaces within the Windows 8 ecosystem.
The sample designs for the presentation were foundations for this new advertorial framework.
The North Face
For the main part of the presentation, we chose North Face as the North Star brand to showcase as a walkthrough. As a content experiences team, we wanted these experiences to feel less like ads and more like content, but still sell the advertiser's brand.
Sample Designs
To supplement the walkthrough portion of the presentation, sample designs were made were to help the audience visualize how campaigns could be designed for the Windows 8 platform. Some came from existing campaigns while some were completely made up.
